State of Emergency Declaration and Order

The Supervisor has made a State of Emergency Declaration due to preparedness measures beig taken in anticipation of the Lake Ontario water level continually rising into late spring and becoming a long term hazard. Presently the water level continues to rise and there has been minimal flooding impacting low lying areas based on wind direction and water levels. There is presently no immediate public safety threat, the situation will continually be monitored and orders will be executed based on the circumstances at the time of concern.

The Supervisor has issued an emergency order stating:  all boat traffic along the lake shores of Lake Ontario in the Town of Somerset must operate at idle speed only causing no wake.  This idle speed order extends out to a distrance of 500 feet.  This order is for the safety of boaters and residents and residences along the shoreline.  This is effective immediately.
